On 4 November 2015, Irrigation minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao said Vamsadhara rivers and Nagavali rivers will be linked. The proposal came following the success of linking the Godavari and Krishna rivers. The river waters of Vamsadhara and Nagavali would be supplied up to the Itchapuram brder by constructing an aqueduct. A committed was formed led by former chief engineer S Satyanarayana. An integrated report and design to link the rivers will be submitted soon. Later the Suvarnamukhi, Veghavathi and Champavathi rivers will be linked with Nagavali.
