Itchapuram police rescues 8 labourers

Eight persons from Srikakulam district forced to work in Rajasthan for making railway sleepers have been freed by the Itchapuram police. The police said two brokers from Orissa allegedly lured 10 youth from Edupuram in Itchapuram mandal offering employment in Mumbai and free lodge and boarding.
However, they were taken to a private engineering company at Kambapu in Chitorgah district of Rajastan. The two youths managed to escaped and reported the matter to the Ichhapuram police and the police went there got the laborers released and made the management pay the wages due to them.
Current cut in four mandals of Srikakulam
Four mandals of Srikakulam spent their day and night without power. The power cut effected the people of Sompeta and surrounding mandals from Saturday 4 PM to Sunday 2 PM and again after a one hour break till the next day. Authorities at the Electricity board attribute failure of some lines and said to restore the same at the earliest.

Three killed in Tata Sumo - RTC Bus accident
May 20, 2004 Two persons died and three others injured when the TATA Sumo in which they were travelling, hit an RTC bus near Pydi Bheemavaram Junction in Srikakulam district on Wednesday.
According to police, five persons of Vikas Educational Society, Visakhapatnam were on their way to Srikakulam on some promotional work. While, Y Jaya Ramudu, a lecturer from Vikas Junior College died on the spot, the Sumo driver succumbed to injuries while being shifted to hospital.
Three others including P Ramana, N Satyanarayana are undergoing treatment at a Srikakulam hospital. JR Puram police are investigating.
Scorching heat waves struck Srikakulam

Srikakulam and its surrounding regions are experiencing high temperatures as the summer season was at its best. Palakonda reported 45 degrees centigrade – the highest recorded temperate this year.
Meanwhile, one person was reported dead unable to bear the heat at Chatrapur (Ganjam). Parlakimidi reported 43.5 degrees centigrade. With the sun at its high, prices of cooling agents like coconut water and packaged water packets were at its high.

Decoits create panic in Ranasthalam

Decoits looted the house of a poultry farm owner at the Costha mandal of Ranasthalam and took away gold and cash from their house. They tied the two hands of Appalanaidu and his wife who usually stay at the farm. Gold of two tulas and cash of near Rs. 4500 was taken away by them. The Clues Team of the Police Department began collecting clues and is investigating the matter.
Srikakulam Annual Plan released
